Capacity for Universal Basic Education (Nigeria)
DHA provides a comprehensive communications component in a £60million project to improve Universal Basic Education (UBE) in Nigeria. Together with Cambridge Education and the British Council, in a Department for International Development-funded project, DHA works with a wide range of stakeholders, organisations and community groups to build consensus, improve the flow of information and deliver public-focused campaigns.
We have developed a nationwide communication strategy and created attractive public campaigns to promote the benefits of education, improve the quality of teaching and build community support for education and local schools. We produce regular publications, social marketing materials and deliver media coverage across Nigeria.
We have created forums drawn from different States in the country to plan and deliver communications. And we have trained a wide range of officials and staff at Ministry level in effective communication.
DHA’s work is already having a significant impact on public awareness of the importance of education and the need for accountability and transparency within the education sector. One measure of this success is the dramatic increase in community-based committees formed to support school development.
