Calico
Calico Housing is the biggest social landlord in the Burnley area – providing around 5,000 homes for rent – with the aim of making communities better places to live and work in.
Calico was formerly Burnley and Padiham Community Housing Association. Following a stock transfer from the council, the organisation wanted a new identity that would distinguish them from the council and show they could be business friendly whilst retaining the loyalty of tenants.
DHA met with a cross-section of staff and tenants to assess feelings about the former organisation and the nature of the one they envisaged for the future.
The results of the research inspired a distinctive name and brand identity that reflects both Burnley's history and its modern-day communities.
DHA continues to work with Calico, providing media training and mentoring for its in-house media team.
