NHS Direct

NHS Direct is one of the leading sources of health advice for members of the public. Its team of nurses and health advisors respond to two million enquiries every month.

DHA was asked to relaunch their flagship service www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk - with support from high-profile doctors - to media, stakeholders and staff. Widespread media coverage resulted in a huge increase in hits to the website and, consequently, DHA was asked to launch new NHS Direct services on Freeview and Sky TV.

DHA also provided NHS Direct’s communications team with in-house press office support, including an out-of-hours service for media calls. We prepared crisis management advice and provided support – including briefing stakeholders, staff and media – for sensitive strategic decisions.

We raised NHS Direct's profile in the national media news pages with the creation of a regular ‘top 20 queries – state of nation’s health’ survey and provided ongoing media support for NHS Direct and Department of Health initiatives for patients.
