Fatherhood Institute

The Fatherhood Institute (formerly Fathers Direct) is a leading think-tank active in collating research on fatherhood, helping shape the Government’s family policy, influencing the public debate on fathers and training family services to be father-inclusive.

DHA successfully managed the re-launch of the Institute. We commissioned polling that informed our publication ‘The Difference a Dad Makes’ – highlighting the huge benefits for children and mothers in having fathers involved. We gained widespread national print and broadcast coverage, as well as generated comment and debate on the role of fathers. DHA also launched the Fatherhood Institute's maternity policy paper - 'The Dad Deficit; the missing piece in the maternity jigsaw - with similarly positive results. The report and debate appeared across the spectrum from BBC Breakfast, the Jeremy Vine Show, and Radio 5 Live, to the Times, Guardian, Independent and a range of magazines and local media outlets.

We continue to work with the Institute as it looks to influence Government policy in areas such as maternity services, separated families and flexible working. DHA produces regular policy briefings, media support and strategic campaigns, aiming to shape opinion and deliver change.
