power2010
POWER2010 is a national campaign designed to engage the British public in shaping the politics of the future, ahead of the 2010 general elections. The campaign comes on the back of the Power Inquiry, established by the Joseph Rowntree Trusts in 2005, which undertook the biggest ever inquiry into the health of Britain's democracy.
DHA is currently working with POWER2010 to raise the campaign’s profile both regionally and nationally by providing strategic advice and media support. Recent successes include comment pieces in the Independent and Guardian and features on political blogs. DHA is working on media for Power2010’s major deliberative event, where 200 people from across the UK are coming to London to discuss and debate priorities for democratic reform. Guided by deliberative democracy expert Professor James Fishkin, the group will create a shortlist of the public’s top priorities for political reform – to be put to all candidates at the next general election.
