*****REPORT TO URGE 10% CARBON CUT BY 2010 TO TACKLE CLIMATE CHANGE*****

The report will say that the climate is significantly more sensitive than previously thought and will warn that the Government will miss its own climate change targets unless it delivers carbon cuts now.

Climate Safety, launched by the Public Interest Research Centre (PIRC), will say that focusing only on long-term policies for carbon reductions is masking the need for delivery of immediate and ongoing action.

The report will call for a series of rapid and cost effective actions that will make an immediate difference, including legislation for energy prices to become cheaper, the less you use. It will also say that the UK should make a commitment ahead of the UN talks in Copenhagen next year.

New targets for a 10% cut in emissions by 2010 with financial incentives for people and businesses, and support for compulsory energy saving, are to be proposed in a new report to be released on November 25th.
