Cheshire Constabulary

Media Training and Support

DHA spent almost eight years helping equip Neighbourhood Support teams in Cheshire Constabulary with the communications skills they needed to reduce fear of crime, promote their successes and build public support amidst a changing media landscape.

We developed fun but challenging one day media training sessions designed to get police officers and PCSOs thinking about how they communicate – from face to face meetings to social media and, of course, traditional media. The sessions encouraged officers to think strategically about how they get messages out but used real examples faced by police on a daily basis and culminated in radio interview coaching and practical exercise with BBC-trained journalists for every delegate.

DHA delivered more than 40 sessions for groups of up to 12, resulting in consistently complimentary feedback and clear evidence that the courses, which are now a part of a course accredited by the University of Chester, had helped increase positive media coverage of the force.
